Rule 25SA 500 GPH 12V DC Automatic Sensing Marine Submersible Bilge Pump

This Rule S-series pump checks for water automatically by briefly running at intervals, rather than waiting for a separate float switch to move. It is a useful option for an installation where compact packaging and automatic sensing are priorities. Because the sensing routine uses battery power, consider the boat’s unattended storage arrangements as well as its normal use.

Choosing and using this product

A bilge pump is one part of a complete water-management installation. Consider the expected water ingress, the discharge height and the route out of the boat rather than choosing on the headline flow figure alone. Hose length, bends, fittings and vertical lift can reduce the amount of water delivered in service. Keep the inlet accessible so that accumulated dirt can be removed during routine checks.

Before replacing an existing pump, compare its electrical supply, discharge hose and mounting arrangement with this model. Allow space to detach the strainer and reach the wiring after installation. Have the circuit protection, cable sizing and discharge arrangement checked against the manufacturer’s instructions by a suitably qualified marine installer. A pump should not be relied on to compensate for a persistent leak or an undersized drainage system.

After installation, test the complete system with water and confirm that it discharges where intended. Check the hose connections, operation of any control switch and access for maintenance. Include the bilge area in regular boat inspections, particularly before a trip and after a period of storage. Keep a record of the exact model so that future replacement parts can be matched accurately.
