Ignition-protected air-operated switch for automatic bilge pump or alarm activation. Mercury-free diaphragm switch head with 10 feet of rubber tubing and air bell. Electrical components remain out of the water. Manual operation through a panel switch remains possible. Suits 12V pumps up to 20A. Switch head can mount up to 3m above air bell.

Choosing and using this product

This control is part of a pump system rather than a pump itself. It provides the stated switching or timing function, while the pump, power supply, circuit protection and plumbing must be selected separately. Match the controller to the actual pump voltage and current requirements before planning a retrofit. A pump's starting behaviour and the manufacturer's wiring requirements should be considered alongside its normal running current.

Choose a mounting position where the operator can see and reach the controls and where the wiring can be routed and supported properly. Check the panel or switch dimensions against the available space and confirm any cut-out details before drilling. Follow the current installation diagram for the particular controller and pump combination; do not assume wire colours or terminals match an older switch. Keep connections protected and accessible for inspection in accordance with the installation requirements.

Before putting the system into use, test each available mode and observe the pump's actual response. The air bell, tubing and remote switch head work together to sense the water level. Keep the tubing arranged as instructed and check the air system for damage or an unsuitable routing that could affect operation. Where a control is used for bilge operation, verify the activation and stop behaviour with the actual water-level arrangement rather than relying only on the switch position.

Inspect the installation periodically for loose connections, damage and changes in pump performance. Keep the control instructions with the boat's equipment records so another operator can understand the manual and automatic modes. If replacing a failed control, check the pump and circuit for the cause of the failure before fitting the new part. Electrical work should follow the equipment manufacturer's requirements and be checked by a suitably competent installer.
