Rule-Mate RM500B-24 500 GPH 24V Automatic Marine Bilge Pump with 20mm Outlet

This Rule-Mate pump combines a submersible bilge pump and automatic water sensing in one unit. It is useful where a separate external float switch would complicate the installation. The manual-override connection gives an installer another control option when used with a suitable panel and the correct wiring arrangement.

Choosing and using this product

A bilge pump is one part of a complete water-management installation. Consider the expected water ingress, the discharge height and the route out of the boat rather than choosing on the headline flow figure alone. Hose length, bends, fittings and vertical lift can reduce the amount of water delivered in service. Keep the inlet accessible so that accumulated dirt can be removed during routine checks.

Before replacing an existing pump, compare its electrical supply, discharge hose and mounting arrangement with this model. Allow space to detach the strainer and reach the wiring after installation. Have the circuit protection, cable sizing and discharge arrangement checked against the manufacturer’s instructions by a suitably qualified marine installer. A pump should not be relied on to compensate for a persistent leak or an undersized drainage system.

After installation, test the complete system with water and confirm that it discharges where intended. Check the hose connections, operation of any control switch and access for maintenance. Include the bilge area in regular boat inspections, particularly before a trip and after a period of storage. Keep a record of the exact model so that future replacement parts can be matched accurately.
