Bakelite electrical box with brass fittings and rubber grommets for waterproof cable entry. Includes insulated terminal strips.

  • Rating: 40A
  • Size: 140 x 100 x 55mm
  • Two separate internal terminal strips with 8 conductors each

An enclosed connection point is useful when organising several wiring joins behind an instrument panel or within a serviceable electrical area. The internal terminal strips provide defined places to terminate conductors, while the box keeps those connections grouped for inspection. This is a practical option to consider during a new fit-up or when tidying an existing arrangement of separate wiring junctions.

Start by counting the required conductors and checking the available mounting space. Allow additional working room around the listed box dimensions for cable entry, lid access and connection maintenance. Plan which wires will use each terminal strip, and label them before installation so the completed arrangement remains understandable. The box rating must be considered alongside the wiring, terminals and connected equipment when checking the overall circuit design.

The rubber grommets form part of the cable-entry arrangement. Select and route the cables so their fit at the entry maintains the intended protection, following the applicable installation instructions. Avoid sharp bends immediately outside the box and support each cable run independently. Locate the box where it can be inspected, with enough access to check the terminal connections without straining surrounding wiring.

Isolate the relevant supply before making electrical connections. During assembly, keep wire ends controlled and ensure neighbouring connections remain properly separated. A simple circuit sketch stored with the boat's maintenance information can help when adding equipment or tracing a fault later. Include the box in routine electrical checks, inspecting the entries, cover and internal connections for damage or looseness. Careful layout at the start makes future servicing more straightforward and helps preserve the organisation of the finished installation.

The eight-conductor strips provide more junction positions to organise within the larger enclosure when planning the wiring layout.
