Non-corrosive screw-apart plug with screw terminals for wiring without soldering.

  • Voltage: 12-24V
  • Current rating: 20A
  • Three contact springs, large screw terminals and built-in cable restraint

This plug is useful when making a detachable supply lead for a compatible marine accessory or replacing a damaged cigarette-style plug. It lets suitable equipment connect to an existing accessory socket while retaining a removable connection. Before choosing it, check the appliance supply requirements, the socket format and the cable arrangement needed at the point of use.

The screw-apart body gives access to the terminals for assembly and inspection. As general wiring guidance, isolate the supply, identify polarity and prepare each conductor to suit the terminal arrangement. Make sure the connections are secure and that loose strands cannot bridge contacts. Follow the relevant assembly instructions when closing the body, and check that the cable is supported appropriately for the installation.

Treat the plug as one part of the complete electrical circuit. Its current rating does not increase the capacity of the socket, supply wiring or appliance lead. Check the lowest applicable rating and use suitable circuit protection. If adapting an existing appliance, confirm its operating voltage before making the connection and keep a clear record of the wiring arrangement for later servicing.

Possible applications include leads for compatible portable work lights or spotlights, where being able to unplug the equipment makes storage and movement easier. Route the finished lead away from walkways, steering controls and places where it could be trapped. During routine checks, look for loose connections, damaged insulation or dirt on the contacts. Disconnect by holding the plug body rather than pulling on the cable, and store the lead where the connection stays clean between uses.

The Ultimate version adds three contact springs, large screw terminals and built-in cable restraint. These features are useful considerations for a frequently handled lead. Its 20A plug rating must still be assessed against the rating of the socket it connects to.
