A purpose-matched outboard bracket provides the mounting arrangement needed to position a compatible auxiliary motor on a suitable boat structure.

Choosing and using this product

Check the stated motor weight and horsepower limits together. Horsepower ratings for these brackets refer to two-stroke motors where specified, and a four-stroke motor of similar power may be heavier. Do not treat the load limit as a suggested engine weight or assume a higher-power motor is acceptable solely because it fits the mounting board.

Match the mounting direction and footprint to the transom, pod or platform. Confirm that the supporting structure can carry the engine and operating loads, with appropriate backing and fasteners. A qualified installer should assess uncertain mounting surfaces. Allow clearance for steering, tilt, fuel lines and any lifting mechanism before drilling the boat.

Check shaft length and the motor’s intended operating height against the waterline. Fixed and adjustable brackets serve different installations, so choose the required geometry before relying on adjustment to solve a mismatch. Where the bracket has locking positions, confirm that the mechanism engages positively and keep hands away from moving links and springs.

Inspect the board, frame, springs where fitted and boat-side attachments at regular intervals. Remove salt deposits and check for cracking, movement or damaged fastenings before use. Follow the motor and bracket instructions for road transport and secondary restraint; a bracket’s engine rating does not automatically approve every towing arrangement or eliminate the need for additional support.

Keep the product identification with the boat’s maintenance records and check the installation after the first use. If the intended arrangement differs from the supplied instructions, resolve the compatibility question before putting the equipment into service.
