Shurflo 1in Raw Water Strainer with 50-Mesh Screen. This Shurflo in-line raw-water strainer uses a rugged nylon housing with a clear polyamide bowl. The bowl twists off for access, and the assembly includes an integral O-ring and a removable stainless steel screen. It is intended to help protect equipment such as bait tanks, livewells, washdown pumps and heat exchangers from debris. Female threaded inlet and outlet ports form the connections. The selected model's port diameter, mesh size and housing dimensions are distinct specifications that should all be checked before installation.

Choosing and using this product

Compare the strainer with the requirements of the connected pump or equipment. Check the connection thread, required water flow and available space, including the clearance needed to twist off and remove the bowl. Choose a position where the clear bowl can be inspected and where the housing is properly supported. Arrange the connecting plumbing without placing side loads on the ports. Do not force threads that appear similar but have not been confirmed compatible. Before removing the bowl, isolate the water supply and pump safely and take precautions appropriate to the boat's intake arrangement. Clean the screen and inspect the O-ring and sealing surfaces before reassembling the strainer. Restore the system and check for leakage and normal operation. The selected mesh controls the debris-screening arrangement; changing mesh or housing size can affect how a system behaves. Use the specified replacement parts and check the equipment guidance if changing the installation. Keep the bowl accessible and include the strainer in routine maintenance, especially after operating in water containing weed, sand or other debris.
