Plastimo Iris 100 Retrofit 12V Compass Lighting Unit for Marine Navigation SP631

Plastimo Iris 100 Retrofit 12V Compass Lighting Unit for Marine Navigation

The Plastimo Iris 100 retrofit light unit is the separately listed 12V lighting accessory for the Iris 100 compass family. It is intended for an Iris 100 installation where the relevant retrofit lighting arrangement is required. The compass range includes versions supplied with lighting and versions without it, so identifying the exact instrument and existing setup is important before choosing a separate light unit. This product is the light unit rather than a complete compass or mounting bracket. It allows the lighting component to be selected independently when planning suitable work on an existing Iris 100 installation.

Choosing and using this product

Check the model name and the lighting arrangement on your compass before ordering. Confirm that the manufacturer’s retrofit instructions apply to the particular Iris 100 you have and that the proposed electrical supply matches the stated 12V requirement. Do not infer a 24V rating from other Plastimo compass lights, as this reference is specifically described as a 12V unit. Likewise, the electrical details of a complete illuminated compass should not be substituted for the specification of this separate retrofit part. Inspect the existing wiring and fittings, and establish the required installation components before work begins. Isolate the relevant supply while carrying out electrical work and use a suitably competent installer where necessary. Plan the wiring so it does not prevent the compass from being used or removed in the manner intended by its instructions. After installation, check the operation of the lighting and the physical security of the completed arrangement. If the compass itself has damage, reading problems or a mounting fault, assess that separately from the light unit. Retain the part reference and the completed installation details with the compass documentation so future maintenance can distinguish this retrofit unit from the other lighting accessories in the Plastimo range.
