The Plastimo Iris 100 additional mounting bracket lets you prepare another mounting position for an Iris 100 handbearing compass. The Iris 100 combines a handheld bearing compass with a bracket-mounted steering compass, so an extra bracket is useful when you want to move the same instrument between suitable positions. It also gives owners a separately available mounting component when replacing an existing bracket. The Iris 100 system uses a smooth-edged, quick-release bracket, allowing the compass to be removed for taking bearings and returned to its mounted position for steering. This listing is for the additional bracket; the compass is purchased separately.

When choosing a second position, consider how you will see the card while steering, reach the release and lift the compass clear for handheld use. The Iris 100 mounting system permits different orientations, including vertical and horizontal installations; follow the compass instructions when setting up the chosen position. Before drilling, check the supporting surface and the space around the compass handle. Confirm which fixings are required for that surface rather than assuming the screws supplied with a complete compass are included with this separate bracket.
