38mm Hose Raw Water Intake Strainer with Clear Cover. This raw-water intake strainer uses a non-corrosive body with hose connections, an integral mounting bracket and a clear cover. A nylon filter element collects debris from the engine water-intake line, while an O-ring seal forms part of the housing assembly. The clear cover allows the condition of the filter to be checked visually. The selected connection size and body dimensions should be matched to the installation together, since different hose sizes in this range use different body sizes.

Choosing and using this product

Check the engine manufacturer's intake requirements and the actual internal diameter of the connecting hose. Confirm that the strainer is suitable for the system's required flow and operating arrangement before installing it. Position the housing so the clear cover can be inspected and the filter can be removed without dismantling surrounding equipment. Use the integral bracket to support the body appropriately, and route the hoses without pulling sideways on the connections. Choose hose clamps for the installed outside diameter and follow the boat's intake-plumbing guidance. Before opening the housing for cleaning, isolate the raw-water supply safely and take the necessary precautions against water entering the boat. Inspect the O-ring and sealing faces before reassembly, then check for leaks and verify normal cooling-water operation. Keep the filter element clean and investigate unexpected reductions in intake flow. A visible cover is useful only if it remains accessible and can be seen clearly. Check the mountings and hose joints during routine engine servicing, and repeat the operating check after replacing the cover, filter element or any part of the intake hose.
