13mm Polypropylene In-Line Shut-Off Valve. This small polypropylene shut-off valve has a large easy-grip on/off handle and barbed hose-tail ends. It provides a straightforward control point in a suitable hose line, allowing the operator to open or close the flow at the valve. The specified size refers to the hose connection. It is a useful component when the plumbing layout calls for a compact manual control, but the material, fluid and operating conditions still need to be appropriate for the intended system.
Choosing and using this product
Measure the internal diameter of the existing hose and check both connecting runs before ordering. Position the valve where the handle can move freely and remain accessible after nearby equipment or storage is in place. Avoid a location where the handle could be knocked accidentally or where an operator cannot clearly see its position. Route the hoses so they do not twist the valve body or pull sideways on the barbed ends. Choose clamps for the fitted outside diameter and support the surrounding hose runs as needed. Before closing a valve in an operating system, consider the effect on the pump and connected equipment; follow their instructions rather than assuming a blocked line is harmless. After fitting, test the open and closed positions and inspect the joints for leaks. Check the control position before starting the connected equipment. Confirm any required pressure, temperature or chemical suitability before using the valve in a demanding application. A matching hose size alone is not a complete compatibility check. During maintenance, inspect the handle, body and hose connections together. Isolate and drain the relevant line safely before removing the valve or disturbing its connections.
