Orange Propeller Safety Flag - 300 x 300mm | Marine Equipment & Boat Supplies
High-visibility propeller flag with shock cord attachment.
A bright propeller flag makes the rear of a trailered outboard easier to notice while the boat is being transported or parked.
Choosing and using this product
Fit the flag with the engine stopped and secured for towing. Position the sewn-in shock cord around the propeller so that the fabric remains visible and the elastic attachment is seated securely. Keep fingers clear of sharp blade edges and ensure the flag is not hidden behind a cover, tie-down strap or trailer component.
Check that the fabric hangs where it can be seen from behind without covering the trailer number plate, lights or reflectors. The flag is a visibility aid rather than a protective propeller cover. It does not cushion a blade edge or prevent someone walking into the motor, so allow adequate clearance around the parked trailer.
Include the flag in the pre-departure walk-around together with motor support, trailer connections and tie-downs. Inspect the shock cord for loss of elasticity and the fabric for tears around its sewn attachment. A loose flag should be secured correctly or replaced rather than left to flap where it could detach during travel.
Remove the flag before launching or operating the motor and store it where it can be found again at retrieval. Rinse road grime and salt from the fabric and allow it to dry before packing it away. Check the applicable transport requirements for your trailer and overhang; a visibility flag alone does not establish compliance with every local towing requirement.
Make the removal check part of launching preparation so the flag cannot remain on the propeller unnoticed. Keep it separate from wet ropes and hooks that might damage the fabric or catch the elastic loop.
