Choosing and using this product

Choose this fitting by its connection position, engine family and mating connector, rather than by hose diameter alone. Fuel connectors that look alike can use different latch and sealing arrangements. Compare the existing part with the stated application and check the engine or tank documentation where an earlier owner may have changed the fuel system.

Measure the hose's internal diameter when selecting a barbed connection. A hose that is too large may not seal reliably, while forcing an undersized hose onto a barb can damage it. For a threaded tank connection, confirm both thread size and thread form; nominal pipe thread dimensions should not be treated as a simple measurement across the outside of the fitting.

Work with the engine stopped, in a ventilated area and away from flames, sparks or other ignition sources. Relieve pressure and manage any residual fuel before disconnecting the old fitting. Examine the hose for hardening, cracking or damage and inspect the mating connector and seals at the same time, rather than fitting a new part onto an obviously worn connection.

Use fuel-system-compatible installation materials and the fastening method specified for the tank, hose and engine. Do not assume that a connector suitable for one fuel formulation is suitable for every blend. Where the catalogue excludes ethanol-blended fuel, retain that restriction when choosing the rest of the fuel line components.

After assembly, verify that the connector is positively engaged and that the hose is supported without sharp bends or strain on the fitting. Check carefully for leakage using the engine manufacturer's procedure before starting and again during the first use. If the connector will not latch cleanly, stop and recheck compatibility instead of forcing the connection.
