This exterior dome light is intended for a larger area that needs broad illumination rather than a small courtesy-light marker. It can be considered for a helm on an open boat, a cockpit on a larger trailer boat or cruiser, or an interior space where a substantial ceiling light is useful. The diffusing lens and circular housing provide a conventional overhead format, with the finish intended to integrate into the boat’s fit-out. Its surface-mounted construction makes the cable route and fastening surface central parts of the installation plan.

Choosing and using this product

Choose the position so the illuminated area is useful from the normal working and seating positions. An overhead fitting can cast shadows from a canopy frame or other hardware, so assess nearby obstructions before fixing it in place. Check that the mounting surface is sound and that the light will not interfere with a hatch, folding roof or access panel. Plan where the separate switch will be reached and whether the light should be on its own circuit or part of an existing group. Confirm wiring and protection requirements using the supplied product instructions; do not size the circuit from an assumed LED count or a similar-looking lamp. Keep cable joins protected and maintain access for inspection. The waterproof exterior design does not make this model suitable for underwater use. After fitting, test for reflections on the windscreen and instruments, and avoid directing excessive light towards the helm when the boat is being operated at night.
