Jabsco 38mm Bilge Strainer with Non-Return Valve. The Jabsco bilge strainer combines a non-corrosive plastic strumbox with a non-return valve. A repositionable outlet allows the hose connection to be arranged horizontally, vertically or sideways, helping the fitting work within the available bilge space. The strainer plate can be removed for cleaning. This combination is intended to keep larger debris away from the connected bilge suction line while providing the stated one-way valve function. Choosing and using this product

Check the pump's installation guidance and confirm that this strainer and non-return arrangement suit the intended system. Choose a position where the strainer can collect water appropriately while remaining accessible for inspection. Set the outlet direction to give the hose a clear route without a tight bend or side load. Match the hose bore to the connection and choose a clamp suitable for the installed outside diameter. Allow enough clearance to remove the strainer plate after the surrounding equipment is in place. A convenient initial installation is less useful if cleaning later requires dismantling unrelated equipment. After fitting, test the pump with water and check the suction connections, flow and the behaviour when pumping stops. Bilges can collect loose debris that interferes with strainers and valves, so inspect this component as part of normal bilge maintenance. Remove obstructions safely with the pump isolated, and reassemble the plate correctly before returning the system to use. If pumping performance changes, check the hose, pump and strainer together rather than assuming the strainer is the only possible cause.
