Choosing and using this product

Follow the pump manufacturer's guidance on whether a non-return valve is appropriate and where it should be installed. Check the valve's flow direction before connecting the hoses. Reversing a one-way component can prevent the intended flow, so verify the orientation before tightening clamps or covering the installation. Match the hose bore to the stated connection size and allow sufficient straight hose at each end for a secure joint. Keep the valve accessible for inspection and cleaning, since debris can interfere with the internal flap or sealing surface. Support the surrounding hose so it does not pull on the valve body. After installation, test the pump's normal operation and check the behaviour after the pump stops. Investigate unexpected flow restriction or poor priming rather than assuming the valve is functioning correctly. For stepped, cut-to-size ports, establish the required connection before removing any section, and follow the product's cutting guidance. Do not cut a fixed-size port. A non-return valve does not replace other required bilge or hull safety arrangements. Include it in routine system inspections and recheck operation after clearing debris or servicing the pump.
