ICHIRO Byakko Marine Gear Oil - SAE 90, 12 x 1L Carton - Gearbox Servicing

Multipurpose gear lubricant with refined base oils, sulphur-phosphorus extreme-pressure additives and antifoam. Designed for thermal stability, corrosion resistance and seal compatibility. Supplied as a carton of 12 x 1L, matching the catalogue and price-list pack designation. A bottle image illustrates the product; the offer is for the specified carton.

Choosing and using this product

Check the gearbox or lower-unit handbook before selecting a lubricant. The SAE grade alone does not confirm that an oil satisfies every transmission requirement, so compare the complete specification and service directions with the equipment being maintained. This is a gear lubricant; its purpose should not be confused with crankcase oil or two-stroke fuel-mixing oil.

Plan the service around the specified lubricant quantity and the correct filling arrangement for the gear housing. Use a clean transfer tool suited to the container and the service opening, and keep the filling area free from grit and water. Follow the maker’s directions for drain and level plugs, seals and tightening requirements rather than applying a general procedure to every engine.

When draining old oil, inspect its appearance and refer unusual contamination or metal debris to a qualified technician. A lubricant change does not repair damaged seals or other mechanical faults. Keep used oil contained and arrange appropriate disposal ashore; do not discharge it into the bilge or overboard.

For ongoing maintenance, record the product grade and the service date alongside the engine or gearbox details. Store remaining lubricant with its original label visible and the cap securely closed. A dedicated filling tool helps keep gear oil separate from other workshop fluids. Select the container designation below to suit the planned work, allowing for the actual equipment capacity rather than assuming the whole container will be required. Before the boat returns to service, complete the level and leak checks specified in the equipment handbook and retain the container details for future reference.
