A tank restraint kit helps locate a compatible tank and limit movement within its storage area, using wedges and a strap as part of the mounting arrangement.

Choosing and using this product

Check the tank outline and strap route before installing the cleats. The listed strap length must accommodate the actual path around the tank and its securing points. Leave the cap, vent, gauge and hose connections accessible, and avoid routing the strap over fittings that could be damaged when the restraint is tensioned.

Position the wedges against suitable parts of the tank body on a sound supporting surface. Check that the tank cannot rub against sharp hardware or nearby equipment. The supporting structure and cleat fasteners must be appropriate for the load of a full tank, rather than merely its empty weight. Use suitable backing where required by the installation.

For a longer tank, consider the supplier’s recommendation to use two kits for better stability. Spreading the restraint points helps control the tank along its length, but the final arrangement still needs to suit the tank and boat. Do not overtighten the strap to deform the tank or use it to pull an unsupported tank into position.

Inspect strap condition, cleat security and wedge position during routine checks and after transport. Keep fuel spills, sharp edges and unnecessary heat away from the webbing. Recheck tension with the tank in its normal service position and replace a damaged strap or fixing before use. Allow enough room to release the restraint safely when the tank needs to be removed.

Keep the product identification with the boat’s maintenance records and check the installation after the first use. If the intended arrangement differs from the supplied instructions, resolve the compatibility question before putting the equipment into service.
