Where a thread is specified, compare its nominal size with the hatch connection rather than measuring only the outside of the fitting.

Identify the unused hatch connection that needs closing and confirm the cap thread against that opening. A cap is a closure, rather than a hose connection or a substitute for the hatch lid itself. Check that nearby hoses and fittings leave enough room to fit and inspect it. Examine the existing connection for damage before attempting to screw in the replacement.
