Coarse-Thread Nylon Automatic Self-Bailer Attachment. This self-bailer attachment combines a rubber one-way flap with a coarse-thread nylon nipple. It screws into compatible standard coarse-thread bung bases, including the listed RWB1946, RWB1950 and RWB1951 drain bodies. The attachment is intended to add the described one-way drainage arrangement to a suitable existing base rather than supply a complete new drain body. Compatibility with the base thread is essential, and the suitability of the overall self-bailing arrangement depends on the boat and mounting position.

Choosing and using this product

Identify the existing bung base and confirm its thread before ordering. Similar-looking drain openings can use different plug arrangements, so do not select the attachment from approximate diameter alone. Inspect the base threads, mounting and sealing surfaces before fitting. A self-bailer cannot correct a damaged drain body or an unsuitable outlet location. Check that the rubber flap has room to move and that surrounding equipment will not obstruct it. Follow the boat's drainage guidance and seek marine installation advice if the outlet's relationship to the waterline or its operating behaviour is uncertain. After fitting, test the intended drainage action in a controlled setting and check the threaded connection and existing base for leakage. Check that the flap returns freely after water passes through. Keep the flap free of sand, weed and other debris that could interfere with its one-way action. Inspect it before use and as part of routine drain maintenance. Do not assume that a self-bailer arrangement removes the need for other boat drainage or safety checks. Recheck operation after cleaning the attachment, replacing a bung base or carrying out work near the drain.
