Black Polypropylene Marine Side-Mount Rod Holder, 235mm with 42mm Bore

The RWB1787 is a black side-mount rod holder made from UV-stabilised polypropylene. Its integral mounting bracket lets you select a vertical or angled installation, while a moulded gimbal sits in the base. This layout is useful to assess where a side surface is available and a recessed flush-mount shaft would be difficult to accommodate.

Choosing and using this product

Plan the position with a rod in the holder before drilling. Check that the reel does not foul the side of the boat and that the handle can be lifted out in one clear movement. A vertical position may suit storage, while an angled position changes the direction of the rod tip; choose the orientation around the actual cockpit layout rather than the holder alone.

Select a sound mounting surface with room for the complete bracket footprint. Check behind the panel for wiring, hoses and other equipment, then choose suitable fasteners and backing for the construction. A thin panel may need additional support. Trial-fit the holder, mark the holes from the actual part and avoid tightening fasteners so far that the mounting surface or bracket distorts.

Confirm the rod butt fits the published bore and can engage the base gimbal where applicable. The holder should not be used as a grab handle or boarding step. Check for movement at the bracket before each outing and address any loosening promptly. Rinse away salt and bait residue after use, clean the contact surfaces and inspect for wear before returning the rod to the holder.

Check all six fixing locations against the available panel area. The bracket dimensions describe the mounting footprint, while the 235mm length describes the holder; neither should be used as a substitute for the other when planning clearance.
