RWB657 is the standard-size battery hold-down tray, providing a non-corrosive support and restraint arrangement for a battery matched to its internal footprint.

Non-corrosive black polyethylene tray and fittings resist battery acid, protect the hull and secure the battery.

  • Inside dimensions: 280 x 180mm

A hold-down tray provides a defined mounting position for a battery and helps keep it restrained within the boat. Consider this size when fitting a battery to a suitable supporting surface or renewing an existing tray that no longer matches the battery case. The open tray arrangement also makes it straightforward to see the battery's position when checking the installation.

Measure the battery footprint against the tray's internal dimensions before ordering. Check the shape of the lower case as well as its nominal size, and allow for the complete restraint arrangement. Plan enough space around the battery for terminal access, cable bends and future removal. The tray must be selected as part of an installation that also suits the battery manufacturer's ventilation and positioning requirements.

For installation, choose a secure mounting area with appropriate structural support. Position the tray so the battery leads reach naturally without pulling across the case or against nearby fittings. Keep the restraint clear of the terminals and any battery service points. Fit and secure the assembly according to the relevant instructions, checking that the battery cannot shift during normal use of the boat.

During routine checks, inspect the tray and fittings for damage and verify that the battery remains properly restrained. Look at the cable connections at the same time, because movement or strain can affect the wider installation. Follow the battery manufacturer's guidance when disconnecting or lifting the battery for servicing. If the battery is replaced with a different model, measure again rather than assuming the new case will fit. A correctly planned tray position makes both the battery and its surrounding wiring easier to inspect and maintain.
