Plastimo Olympic 135 White Plastic Compass Binnacle for Marine Navigation SP665

Plastimo Olympic 135 White Plastic Compass Binnacle for Marine Navigation

The Plastimo Olympic 135 white binnacle is the separately available housing for a compatible compass when a binnacle-mounted arrangement is required. It provides an alternative to the family’s flush-mount installation, allowing the compass and housing to be considered as separate parts of the helm layout. The catalogue describes a white plastic binnacle for this application. This listing is for the binnacle itself; the compass is purchased separately. It is relevant when planning a compatible mounting conversion or replacing the housing while retaining a serviceable compass. The white exterior can be considered alongside the compass finish and the surrounding pedestal or helm fittings.

Choosing and using this product

Check the exact compass model and the supplier reference before ordering. The Olympic 135 name identifies the relevant family, but other Plastimo compasses also use the number 135 and may have different mounting requirements. Do not select a binnacle solely because the compass card appears to be the same size. Examine the existing arrangement and establish whether the compass is intended for the proposed housing and mounting position. The catalogue lists more than one white binnacle reference, so retain the correct code when matching a replacement rather than treating all white housings as interchangeable. Before drilling or changing a pedestal, compare the actual parts with the available space and the fixing arrangement required by the manufacturer. Consider the final reading position, access to the compass and the route of any existing lighting wires. Confirm the installation components and fasteners required for the boat rather than assuming they accompany this separately listed housing. After fitting, check secure attachment and an unobstructed view of the compass card. The binnacle changes the mounting arrangement; it does not establish a new lighting voltage, card type, balance zone or performance rating for the compass.
