Plastimo Offshore 115 and Olympic 115 Black Binnacle for Marine Compasses SP736

Plastimo Offshore 115 and Olympic 115 Black Binnacle for Marine Compasses

The Plastimo black binnacle provides an optional housing for a compatible Offshore 115 or Olympic 115 compass when a binnacle-mounted installation is preferred. It is supplied as the binnacle only, making it a separate component for a new installation or an existing compass arrangement. The Offshore 115 and Olympic 115 ranges are normally supplied as flush-mount compasses, with this housing offered as an additional mounting option. Choosing the black version lets you coordinate the visible housing with the compass and surrounding helm finish. The tapered housing can be checked against the space available at the helm using the dimensions listed below.

Choosing and using this product

Start by confirming the complete compass model and its mounting arrangement. Both the Offshore 115 powerboat family and Olympic 115 sailing family list this binnacle option, but the shared 115 designation should not be used to assume compatibility with another compass range. For an inclined Olympic 115 installation, check the exact model and manufacturer instructions before selecting a binnacle conversion. Compare the drawing dimensions with the available helm space and check that the finished compass will be easy to read from your normal steering position. Allow room for access and any lighting leads belonging to the compass. Before modifying an existing mounting surface, establish how the compass and housing will be secured and which installation components are needed. Check the fixing pattern on the actual parts rather than treating the outside diameter as a drilling template. The colour choice changes the appearance of the housing; compass card colour, illumination and balance remain properties of the separate compass. This accessory is appropriate when you need the housing itself and already have, or are separately selecting, a compatible instrument.
