White Marine LED Cabin Light with Base Switch, 12V, 90mm Surface Mount RWB985

White Marine LED Cabin Light with Base Switch, 12V, 90mm Surface Mount

A cabin light with its own base switch provides straightforward local control without needing a separate switch beside the berth or doorway. This compact surface-mounted fitting can be considered for a protected interior area where the light is within reach and a larger dome would be unnecessary. Its role is simple cabin illumination, with the mounting position determining how useful the light will be for the surrounding space. Check its footprint against the available lining or bulkhead and consider access to the switch from the normal seating position.

Choosing and using this product

Before installation, hold the fitting in its proposed position and check that it will illuminate the intended area without being blocked by a shelf or cabin structure. Leave enough room to operate the switch comfortably and avoid a location where bags, cushions or a locker lid could strike it. Surface mounting reduces the need for a recessed lamp cavity, but the cable still needs a suitable entry and a protected route behind the fitting. This model is for interior use and is not weatherproof, so select a location away from spray and washdown water. Match the supply to the voltage specified for this exact model; similar white cabin lights can have different electrical requirements. Include suitable circuit protection and secure the wiring so it is not pinched under the base. Once fitted, test the switch and assess the light from the positions in which the cabin is normally used. A local switched light can complement, rather than duplicate, a larger general cabin lamp.
