Adjustable Rubber Exhaust Flap Guard - Large, 80-105mm | Marine Boat Maintenance

Rubber flap helps prevent seawater entering the exhaust. Trim the flange and secure with a hose clamp, supplied separately.

Choosing and using this product

Start by matching the exhaust connection and the space available around it. Exhaust components form part of an engine-specific installation, so the stated bore or hose size is only one of the checks required. Compare the old part, hose routing and mounting arrangement before removing serviceable components or making permanent changes.

A marine wet exhaust relies on the complete layout to manage cooling water and exhaust flow. Follow the engine and exhaust system manufacturer's requirements for hose runs, elevations and discharge position. A replacement component cannot correct an unsuitable installation, and a flap or waterlock should not be treated as a guarantee against every route by which water could reach an engine.

Inspect the adjoining hose, clamps and mounting surface during the job. Look for cracking, heat damage, loose fastening points and areas where a hose may rub against surrounding structure. Retain appropriate access for inspecting and servicing the assembly after it has been installed, especially where a cockpit locker or engine compartment makes connections difficult to reach.

Make any cutting or adjustment only after checking the intended fit and orientation. Remove loose material and avoid leaving an edge that could damage the adjoining hose. Use installation hardware suitable for the actual arrangement and follow its tightening instructions. Do not improvise operating temperature or pressure limits from the appearance of the component.

Before returning the boat to service, have the completed exhaust installation checked for secure connections, water leaks and exhaust leaks. Observe the system under the conditions recommended by the engine manufacturer. Investigate changes in noise, cooling-water discharge or engine behaviour promptly, and never operate an engine in an enclosed area where exhaust gases can accumulate.
