Choosing and using this product

Use the full replacement reference to identify the filter required for your engine. Outboard brand names cover many engine sizes and generations, and a filter that looks similar may have a different thread, sealing diameter or internal specification. Compare the OEM number in the engine parts information with the references below. Where the engine has been repowered or replaced, use its actual model and serial details rather than the boat’s age.

The cross-references provide a useful starting point for selecting a service part, but they do not replace the engine manufacturer’s service instructions. Confirm the replacement number before removing the old filter, and organise the correct engine oil and collection equipment at the same time. The supplied O-ring is part of the filter sealing arrangement; check that the old seal comes away with the removed filter and does not remain on the engine mounting face.

Follow the engine maker’s procedure for oil draining, seal preparation, filter installation and tightening. Keep the new filter and mounting area clean while the engine is open. Do not use the filter body as a handle for moving nearby hoses or wiring. Once fitted, check the oil level and follow the prescribed restart procedure, watching the filter joint for any sign of leakage.

Record the replacement code, engine hours and service date with the boat’s maintenance notes. Dispose of the used filter and oil through an appropriate collection service, keeping them out of drains and waterways. If the old oil or filter shows unusual contamination, investigate the underlying cause rather than treating a new filter as a repair. Use the engine’s specified service interval and operating conditions to plan the next change.
