Locking tube secures outboard clamp handles. Includes two keys.
An outboard clamp lock covers the attachment thumb screws, making it harder to release the motor from its mounting without first unlocking the tube.
Choosing and using this product
Match the tube length, slot length and inside diameter to the actual clamp handles on the motor. Horsepower is a useful guide to the intended range, but clamp shapes and spacing vary between models. Measure the span and clearance with the motor securely clamped before choosing this size.
Arrange the clamp handles in the position required for the locking tube, following the motor and lock instructions. The tube must slide into place without loosening the motor or forcing a handle against the transom. Check for clearance to steering components, fuel lines and the motor tilt movement before leaving it fitted.
Keep one key accessible to the operator and the spare in a separate secure place. Test the locking action while the boat is at the ramp or berth so the motor can be removed without delay if servicing is required. A lock supplements sensible security measures; it does not guarantee protection against theft or replace insurance conditions.
Rinse salt from the outside after exposure and maintain the locking mechanism with a product suitable for that lock. Inspect the slot edges, tube and clamp handles for damage or binding. Remove the lock when necessary to check the motor clamps themselves, because covering the screws should not prevent routine checks that the engine remains securely attached.
The two supplied keys allow you to keep a separate backup. Record where that spare is kept before the boat is put into storage, particularly if the motor may need to be removed for servicing.
