Black Large Oval Marine Polypropylene Rod Holder, Hinged PVC Sealing Cap

The RWB5146 is a black UV-stabilised polypropylene rod holder with a large oval head and a moulded gimbal in the shaft base. Its angled shaft is paired with a PVC sealing cap that hinges from the integral mounting base gasket, giving you a cover for the opening when the holder is not in use.

Choosing and using this product

Check that the 105 × 84mm head fits the available surface without overlapping a raised edge, trim strip or nearby fitting. The head footprint is larger than the 50mm cut-out, so both measurements matter when planning a new hole or replacing an existing holder. Measure the rod handle too, allowing it to seat in the 43mm bore without forcing it.

Inspect below the gunwale for the full 240mm shaft length and its angled path. Keep the proposed opening clear of wiring, plumbing and structural members. Trial-position a rod and reel to check removal clearance, rod-tip direction and access for the angler. Confirm the final cut-out shape and fastening pattern from the actual fitting before drilling.

Use suitable fasteners and backing for the boat construction, and tighten evenly without distorting the polypropylene head. Inspect the moulded gimbal and test how the rod butt sits before use. Rinse salt and bait residue away after fishing, check for cracks or movement at the fastening points, and keep the opening clear of debris.

Keep the hinged cap and its seating surface clean so it closes properly. A sealing cap should not be treated as a stated watertightness rating, and any drainage or below-deck water-management needs should be considered separately.
