### Match the fitting to the towing installation

A ski hook needs to be considered with the boat structure and the complete towing arrangement. Compare the mounting dimensions and stated installation limits with the intended location. Where hull thickness is specified, check the actual panel and any supporting structure before selecting the fitting.

### Selection and fitting

Inspect access behind the mounting point and confirm the appropriate fastening and reinforcement arrangement for the boat. Keep the hook clear of nearby fittings that could interfere with the intended rope connection. Use the product and boat instructions when planning the installation and operation. During routine checks, inspect the hook, fasteners and surrounding structure for wear or movement. Do not infer a towing capacity from the material or overall size alone.

Use the stated measurements to compare this version with the item being replaced. Overall dimensions, fixing centres and working clearances can describe different parts of a fitting, so check each relevant measurement separately. A quick comparison with the existing installation helps you choose the appropriate size before committing to new holes or changes to surrounding hardware.

For a refit, take measurements before removing the existing item and retain a note of its position and orientation. This gives you a useful reference when checking the replacement and helps keep related fittings aligned throughout the job.

If you are replacing several related items, compare each location individually. Boats often contain similar fittings with small differences in size or arrangement, particularly where repairs or alterations have been carried out over time. Checking each position helps keep the finished installation consistent.
