A more usable cabin and locker layout
Door and hatch hardware works best when its operating position feels natural and the mating surfaces line up accurately. Use this fitting as part of a planned replacement or refit, comparing its size and operating style with the existing arrangement. A close match helps avoid unnecessary changes to surrounding joinery and makes everyday access more convenient.
Selection and fitting
Offer the components into position before drilling and check the door or lid through its complete movement. Allow space for fingers, nearby trim and any moving lever or handle. Where a mating catch or striker is involved, alignment matters as much as the mounting footprint. Check operation after tightening, then revisit the fixings during routine boat maintenance.
Use the stated measurements to compare this version with the item being replaced. Overall dimensions, fixing centres and working clearances can describe different parts of a fitting, so check each relevant measurement separately. A quick comparison with the existing installation helps you choose the appropriate size before committing to new holes or changes to surrounding hardware.
For a refit, take measurements before removing the existing item and retain a note of its position and orientation. This gives you a useful reference when checking the replacement and helps keep related fittings aligned throughout the job.
