Integrate the black Explorer into a suitable panel with the flush-mount version. The 70 mm direct-reading dial sits above a body that extends below the panel, so rear clearance matters as much as the visible flange. Select the flush format deliberately rather than treating the surface model as interchangeable.

A marine compass provides a magnetic heading reference, so its position and compensation matter alongside the dial size. Choose a location where the intended reader can see the heading clearly, and follow the installation instructions to assess magnetic influences from nearby equipment. A convenient physical mounting point is only part of selecting a suitable position.
