    ### 316 Stainless 1/2in BSP Through-Hull Skin Fitting with Lock Nut for Marine Use

This 1/2 inch 316 stainless steel skin fitting provides a threaded through-hull connection for a carefully matched marine plumbing installation. Cast 316 grade stainless steel forms the body of the fitting, and a stainless steel lock nut is included. Internal lugs provide a means of holding the fitting during installation while the threaded connection and retaining nut are being arranged. The threaded end is intended to screw directly into a compatible valve. The quoted size identifies the male BSP thread, so it is the thread specification to compare with the receiving component. It does not describe a hose barb or establish the required hull cut-out. Choosing the right fitting involves matching the connection, the hull arrangement and the adjoining valve, rather than selecting a similar-looking outside diameter.

### Choosing and using this product

Before ordering, identify the thread on the valve or fitting that will connect to the 1/2 inch male BSP end. Check the available shaft length against the actual hull thickness, backing arrangement and thread engagement required by that component. Allow room to reach the retaining nut and to operate and service any valve fitted behind it. A nominal thread size alone does not confirm that an existing hole, valve or hose assembly will fit. Have the installation method, bedding material and any reinforcement assessed for the particular hull and water system. Keep the fitting supported while assembling the connection so the hull joint is not twisted by work on the inside plumbing. If the installation is below the waterline, have its suitability and complete arrangement checked by a competent marine installer before the boat is returned to service. Inspect the joint and connected plumbing for leakage after installation, and retain access for later inspection and maintenance.
