    ### Chrome Side-Mount Rowlock Plates - 3/8 inch (10mm) - for Marine Rowing Equipment

Chrome-plated cast marine alloy side-mount plates with countersunk fastening holes.

### Choosing and using this product

Match the rowlock arrangement to the boat and the oars before ordering. For a replacement, measure the existing shaft and socket and compare the mounting style as well as the nominal size. A rowlock and its mounting plate perform different jobs; make sure the item selected is the component needed for the repair or installation.

Check the gunwale structure and the space below or alongside it. Through-mounted and side-mounted fittings need different clearances, and existing screw holes should not be assumed to suit another plate. The mounting should position the oar so it can sweep freely through the rowing stroke without catching nearby fittings or forcing an awkward wrist position.

For a new installation, sit in the intended rowing position and assess the reach to each side before drilling. Consider the oar length, handle clearance and where the blade meets the water. If the gunwale requires reinforcement or backing, arrange that work before fitting the hardware. Select fastenings for the actual boat construction rather than choosing solely by the appearance of the plate.

During use, check that the oars are properly located and that the fittings move freely without excessive play. Stop and inspect any sudden change in movement or unexpected noise. After rowing, rinse away salt and sand, inspect contact surfaces for wear and check that mountings remain secure. Store removable components where they can be found easily for the next trip. Keeping the pair together avoids mismatched equipment at launch time. A regular check of the whole rowing arrangement is particularly useful when oars are carried as backup propulsion and are used only occasionally.
