    ### Cheras Slotted Block Zinc Anode - ZHST RWB3344 | Marine Boat Maintenance

Australian-made Cheras zinc alloy anode, manufactured to AS2239 and US military specification 18001J. Block with two recessed slotted fixing holes.

### Choosing and using this product

Compare the complete mounting arrangement, not just the zinc block size. Check hole position, available clearance and access for tools against the existing installation before committing to the replacement.

Zinc anodes are sacrificial maintenance components, so the correct replacement is chosen by the protected equipment and its existing anode arrangement. Match the anode code as well as the dimensions before ordering. An item with a similar outline can have a different mounting arrangement or zinc mass, and those differences matter when replacing an established installation.

Check the original fitting and the boat or engine manufacturer's anode recommendations before changing alloy, size or location. The water in which a boat operates also influences anode selection. If the existing protection arrangement is uncertain, have it assessed rather than choosing solely by how much zinc will fit in the available space.

Inspect the mounting surface and fastening condition when the old anode is removed. The replacement must have the electrical contact required by the equipment's corrosion protection system. Keep paint, antifouling and insulating contamination off the active anode surface and required contact points. Follow the relevant installation instructions for tightening and clearance rather than applying an assumed torque.

Record the fitting date and inspect consumption during routine maintenance. Anodes are expected to erode as they work; uneven wear, unexpectedly fast loss or an anode that remains unchanged can justify investigating the wider system. Do not rely on a calendar interval alone when deciding whether replacement is due. Compare the remaining shape and attachment security with the equipment manufacturer's replacement guidance.

Keep the model code with the vessel's service notes so the next replacement can be matched accurately. Before relaunching or returning equipment to service, check that the anode is secure and that adjacent moving parts have their required clearance.
