Match the window to the cabin opening
Portlights combine a visible cabin finish with a precisely sized installation. For a replacement, compare the cut-out shape and dimensions separately from the outside frame. Also check the available clearance inside the cabin, where trim, curtains and adjacent fittings can affect the suitability of the selected model.
Selection and fitting
Confirm whether your layout calls for an opening or fixed port and use the version described in this listing. Before installation, check panel thickness and the required mounting surface. Follow the model-specific fitting instructions for fasteners and sealing products. Once fitted, keep the lens and frame clean using products compatible with their materials, and inspect seals and moving parts where present. Avoid using overall frame size as a substitute for the required cut-out.
For an accurate fit, distinguish the cut-out measurement from the overall size. The cut-out describes the opening in the mounting surface, while the overall size describes the space occupied by the fitted frame or face. Compare both with your boat and check any stated depth, radius or thickness requirements before altering an existing opening.
For a refit, take measurements before removing the existing item and retain a note of its position and orientation. This gives you a useful reference when checking the replacement and helps keep related fittings aligned throughout the job.
