Position the antenna base for practical access
An antenna base should be selected around the antenna connection and the available mounting surface. Compare the listed footprint and height with the space on your boat, then consider the clearance needed for adjustment or release. The location should allow access to the fitting without obstructing surrounding equipment.
Selection and fitting
Before installation, check the antenna compatibility and the support behind the mounting position. Plan cable routing separately so that it remains appropriate through any intended movement. Follow the antenna and base instructions for attachment and adjustment. Once fitted, check that the base engages correctly and include its fixings and moving components in routine inspections. Keep the product reference with your antenna records for future replacement enquiries.
Use the stated measurements to compare this version with the item being replaced. Overall dimensions, fixing centres and working clearances can describe different parts of a fitting, so check each relevant measurement separately. A quick comparison with the existing installation helps you choose the appropriate size before committing to new holes or changes to surrounding hardware.
For a refit, take measurements before removing the existing item and retain a note of its position and orientation. This gives you a useful reference when checking the replacement and helps keep related fittings aligned throughout the job.
