### Keep access points practical and organised

Inspection ports and deck plates provide access to areas that otherwise remain concealed behind a panel or deck. Choosing the right opening size can make routine checks and servicing more convenient. Compare the clear access opening, outside diameter and required cut-out separately, as each measurement has a different purpose.

### Selection and fitting

Before installation, check for cables, hoses and structural obstructions behind the intended position. Allow enough room to remove or open the cover and reach the equipment behind it. Use only the mounting and sealing arrangement specified for the selected model. Keep the mating surfaces clean and inspect any seal during routine maintenance. When replacing an existing unit, identify the complete frame and lid arrangement rather than assuming matching diameters guarantee interchangeable parts.

Use the stated measurements to compare this version with the item being replaced. Overall dimensions, fixing centres and working clearances can describe different parts of a fitting, so check each relevant measurement separately. A quick comparison with the existing installation helps you choose the appropriate size before committing to new holes or changes to surrounding hardware.

For a refit, take measurements before removing the existing item and retain a note of its position and orientation. This gives you a useful reference when checking the replacement and helps keep related fittings aligned throughout the job.
