    ### 316 Stainless Steel Marine Rod Holder Extension, Angled Gimbal Lock 450mm

The RWB1978 is a 316-grade stainless-steel rod-holder extension that raises and angles a rod over the side or stern of the boat. It uses a gimbal-lock arrangement and is intended to fit most standard stainless-steel holders with a bore of 38mm or larger. This makes it particularly useful to consider where straight holders are already installed but a more outward rod position is wanted.

### Choosing and using this product

Measure the existing holder bore before ordering, then check its depth, gimbal arrangement and condition. The catalogue describes compatibility with most standard holders, so bore size alone should not be treated as a guarantee of fit. The extension must seat properly and engage the intended locating arrangement without forcing it into place.

Plan the final rod position with the extra height included. The published 450mm dimension is the extension above the host holder, not a stated overall length. Check clearance around a canopy, rail, outboard cowling and nearby rods, and allow room to lift the rod out. The 42mm top bore is a separate measurement from the minimum 38mm bore required in the existing holder.

An extension places the rod further from the original mounting point. Have the host holder, its fasteners and the surrounding structure assessed for the intended use rather than assuming they can accept any rod or fishing load. Inspect the installation for movement before use and do not use the extension as a handhold. After fishing, rinse both mating surfaces and remove trapped grit or dried salt. Store the extension securely when removed, and check its gimbal engagement each time it is refitted.
